Automotive Engineering Show – supporting UK supply chain development

Representing the UK’s only 100% dedicated show and open conference for Automotive body, chassis, powertrain and supply chain engineering, the Automotive Engineering Show 2014 , doubles in size from the 2012 ’inaugural’ show, to provide a uniquely tailored ‘showcase’ of specialist UK and international engineering services, design/production technology & specialist parts & component suppliers supporting the UK’s multiple vehicle engineering programmes – from Passenger Car, Performance Vehicle, CV, Truck, Motorcycle, Specialist, Low Carbon Vehicle & Engine sectors.

The highly resurgent UK automotive industry is at the very forefront of the nation’s manufacturing and advanced engineering capability, adding some £12bn net value to the UK economy and in 2012 building around 1.6 million vehicles and 2.5 million engines, and more importantly exporting 81% and 62% respectively of this production.

The UK Automotive sector is enjoying an unprecedented level of new investment into both R&D and production facilities (notable are the likes of Jaguar Land Rover, Nissan, BMW Group), and now in trade surplus, the UK is seen as a preferred location for automotive design and production, reflecting its dynamic, lean, competitive and highly skilled technology and manufacturing base for a growing automotive sector.  

The UK already boasts a supply chain in excess of some 2,000 specialist companies supporting its domestic automotive development, manufacturing, assembly and integration processes. With ambitions of topping 2million vehicles per annum, a key factor will be the growth and development of the industry’s supporting supply chains - assuring capacity, capability and sustainability in key areas such as lightweight body engineering, ICE, EV & Hybrid engine/drivetrain production, low and ultra –low carbon vehicles, energy storage development and more.
